Ministry of Natural Resources Secretary Chairs National Biodiversity Committee Meeting

On February 9, 2024, the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) held the first National Biodiversity Conservation and Utilization Committee (NBC) meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Suchart Chongklin assigned Raveewan Puridej, the ministry's permanent secretary, to chair the meeting. Over 60 committee members from various agencies attended. The committee approved the 7th National Biodiversity Report and the 5th National Report on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The secretariat was instructed to submit both national reports to the Convention on Biological Diversity Secretariat. Additionally, the meeting reviewed monitoring measures for five recognized Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) in biodiversity conservation areas.
