Newlyweds Devastated: Famous Wedding Organizer Cancels Events, Victims Seek Police Help
A group of over 70 victims, including newlyweds and wedding professionals, have come forward to expose a popular Facebook wedding organizing page with over 20,000 followers. The company has been accused of taking full payment in advance and then canceling events at the last minute, leaving couples scrambling to make alternative arrangements.
Victims like Ms. Somsakul (name changed) reported total damages exceeding 3 million baht. The common pattern involves the organizer requesting full payment upfront, then canceling close to the wedding date with excuses ranging from team internal issues to financial problems. Some victims were told to borrow decorations from local temples and organize the wedding themselves.
When attempting to file police reports at local stations, many victims were initially turned away. A group of affected couples traveled to the Central Investigation Bureau to formally lodge a complaint against the organizing company.
Multiple victims shared similar stories of last-minute cancellations and financial losses. For instance, Ms. Suthathip from Rayong paid nearly 45,000 baht and was canceled just three days before her wedding, while Ms. Aiyara from Phetchaburi had to urgently hire a new organizer at an additional cost of 69,000 baht to save her wedding.
The organizing company claimed issues like team problems, accidents, and bank account suspensions, promising to gradually refund money - though most victims have yet to receive any compensation.
