Army Commander Welcomes ICRC Regional Director to Advance International Humanitarian Efforts

On February 9th, Army Commander General Pana Klaewplodthuk welcomed Jurg Montani, the ICRC Regional Director and his delegation, at the Army Museum's JPRC Room at Army Headquarters. The meeting was to introduce Montani in his new position and explain ICRC's operational principles. During the discussion, the Army thanked ICRC for supporting their work under international humanitarian law, particularly regarding prisoner treatment during past Thai-Cambodian border situations. The ICRC praised Thailand's positive response to international commitments and the Army's professional cooperation in prisoner visits and repatriation. The ICRC emphasized that they are a neutral organization committed to observing international standards, acknowledging that military operations may not always perfectly align with global principles. The Army reaffirmed its commitment to professional operations within international legal frameworks and expressed readiness to continue collaboration with ICRC.
