On February 11th, Dr. Phantheuphak Arunee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), revealed that the ministry and the Association of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Professionals (AITP) met with Mr. Stephen J. Susalka, CEO of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), to drive the development of the country's intellectual property management system and prepare Thai researchers to utilize research outcomes concretely. The Deputy Permanent Secretary stated that AITP is currently establishing 4 training centers at Mahidol University, Chiang Mai University, Khon Kaen University, and Prince of Songkla University to support intellectual property and technology transfer personnel development nationwide. They are developing training curricula and standards, expected to launch basic courses soon, with plans to advance to expert-level courses to elevate professional standards and increase the country's competitive capabilities. The MHESI Office has been promoting AITP's establishment since 2025 as a central hub for developing intellectual property and technology transfer human resources, collaborating with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and AUTM to organize the WIPO-AUTM International Knowledge and Technology Transfer Leadership Summit 2025 from November 17-21, which received excellent response and cooperation from domestic and international partner organizations.
