Ministry of Public Health Prepares Health Care for 7,037 Thai Muslims Performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia
On February 11, 2026, at the National Islamic Affairs Center in Nong Chok, Bangkok, Deputy Minister of Public Health Worachot Sukhonkajorn launched a project to prevent and boost immunity for Thai Muslims traveling to perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia. The project involves providing free vaccinations, health screenings, and medical support for pilgrims.
Worachot explained that Hajj is a crucial religious duty, with approximately 13,000 Thai Muslims typically receiving travel quotas each year. The Ministry of Public Health will provide comprehensive health services including pre-travel vaccinations, health certificates, and medical personnel to support pilgrims during the religious ceremony.
Dr. Sakda noted that this year's Hajj will be held from May 25-31, 2026, with 7,037 Thai Muslims registered to participate. Each pilgrim will receive health checks, vaccinations for meningitis and influenza at least 10 days before travel, and be provided with first aid medical supplies at no cost.
The initiative reflects cultural understanding and promotes bilateral relations between Thailand and Saudi Arabia in public health, economy, trade, investment, food security, energy, tourism, and cultural exchanges.
