Hot Amulet News – Commemorative Coin of Mongkol Bpit Buddha Image Series 2
The 'Mongkol Bpit' or 'Luang Por Mongkol Bpit' is a sacred Buddha statue that has been a spiritual symbol since the Ayutthaya Kingdom era, enshrined at the Mongkol Bpit Temple in Ayutthaya province. The commemorative amulets have been created multiple times during important occasions, with the most notable being the 'First Edition Coin from 1917'. In 1942, a special commemorative edition was created, involving an extraordinary ritual that included gathering sacred metal materials and gold plates blessed by 121 renowned Buddhist masters. The creation process involved a two-stage ceremony: first, a gold-melting ritual on February 16-17, 1942, and second, a Buddhist blessing ceremony on March 21, 1942, at Wat Ratchabophit in Bangkok. The commemorative coin features a five-sided design with an image of Luang Por Mongkol Bpit and was produced in copper, silver, and a special gold-topped copper variant.
