Ministry of Higher Education Partners with Hungary to Provide 40 Scholarships Annually

On February 4th, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Phanthuemsak Arunee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Program 2026-2028 with Mr. Ádám Stifter, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, with Deputy Prime Minister Seehasak Puangketkeow and Mr. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, as witnesses. Dr. Phanthuemsak revealed that the agreement aims to promote cooperation in higher education and human resource development, facilitating long-term educational collaboration. The Hungarian government will allocate 40 scholarships annually for Thai students to study at various degree levels in Hungary, with priority given to STEM fields including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medical sciences, and agriculture. Additional study fields include Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Legal Sciences, Economic Sciences, and Arts Education. The scholarships will cover tuition, accommodation, monthly expenses, and other related costs. The Thai side will promote the scholarship program, nominate candidates in collaboration with Thai higher education institutions, and reciprocally offer scholarships to Hungarian students through the Thailand Scholarships program. Dr. Phanthuemsak emphasized that beyond educational scholarships, the agreement aims to expand academic cooperation, including institutional exchanges, student and staff mobility, and potential research collaborations in mutually promising fields.
