First Foreign League Move! Raheem Sterling Agrees to Join Feyenoord Until End of Season
Raheem Sterling is making his first move abroad, agreeing to join Feyenoord on a contract until the end of the current season after recently becoming a free agent. The English national team forward has agreed to move to Feyenoord of the Eredivisie in the Netherlands on a contract until the end of the current season. Sterling recently terminated his contract with Chelsea in the English Premier League in January, and after being linked with several clubs, he has chosen to play outside of England for the first time in his career. Feyenoord is currently managed by Robin van Persie, the former Dutch national team striker, and the team is currently in second place in the Eredivisie, though their chances of winning the championship are quite difficult as they trail the league leaders PSV by 12 points. The 31-year-old player stated, "After intense discussions with Robin, I'm confident that Feyenoord will be a place where I'll be happy and can add value to the team. Playing abroad is a new challenge for me, and I'm excited about this new beginning."
