Urgent: Update iOS and Android Within 3 Days to Keep Banking Apps Functional

Lalida Pherishviwat, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the Thai Bankers' Association and the Banking Sector Information Security Coordination Center (TB-CERT) are upgrading mobile banking application security measures. From February 14, 2024, bank applications will only support devices with minimum operating system versions: iOS 14+ and Android 10+. Devices with older operating systems will be unable to access banking apps. The measure aims to increase financial transaction safety by reducing risks from malware, phishing, and cyber attacks. Older operating systems have security vulnerabilities and lack critical security patches, which cybercriminals often exploit to steal personal information or improperly access accounts. Users with incompatible devices may need to upgrade their devices to ensure continued financial service access.
