Sirichok Proposes Centralized Ballot Counting to Prevent Vote Buying
On Feb 10, 2069, Sirichok Sopha, a former parliamentary candidate from Songkhla's District 7, revealed that the upcoming election is again rife with vote-buying allegations. Nearly every candidate is engaging in vote purchasing, which has been largely effective due to current vote-counting methods at polling stations that allow vote brokers to track how people voted. If votes don't match the money paid in a specific area, vote brokers can track and intimidate villagers. To address this, Sirichok proposes collecting ballots from all polling stations to be counted together at the district office, which would prevent vote brokers from verifying individual votes. He also suggests reducing the number of parliamentary representatives to 400 (200 list-based and 200 district-based) to further reduce vote-buying opportunities.
