Coach Chakrapan Panpee, head coach of Thailand's under-19 national football team, has announced a 23-player squad for the 2026 AFF Championship in Indonesia. Recently appointed by the Football Association of Thailand, Coach Panpee will lead the team through the tournament scheduled for June 1-13 in Sumatra.

May 27, 2025 – Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin has ordered the Pollution Control Department (PCD) to investigate water quality conditions in the Huai Ta Khae area, Pak Khao Sarn Subdistrict, Muang District, Saraburi Province, following the discovery of black-colored water with foul odors—an issue that recurs annually. The minister has instructed officials to establish monitoring checkpoints, create surveillance networks, continuously collect environmental data, and strictly enforce environmental laws against any violators.

Dr. Surin Vorakitchawong, Director-General of the Pollution Control Department, revealed that the Environmental Quality and Pollution Control Office Region 7 (Region 7 Saraburi) conducted monitoring between May 4-7, 2025, during which over 27 millimeters of rainfall accumulated. Water quality abnormalities were detected in the Khlong Kaet area, which merges with water from Nong Nam Khiao before reaching Lang Luang Dam. Water samples were collected from five monitoring points, and the Saraburi provincial task force was asked to investigate the water course further to identify the cause.

Between May 18-24, 2025, during approximately 30 millimeters of rainfall, Region 7 returned to the area and again found water quality irregularities in Khlong Kaet, Khlong Nong Nam Khiao, and Huai Ta Khae. Eight additional water samples were collected to support joint problem-solving efforts with Saraburi Province. Dr. Surin stated that this issue regularly impacts water sources, water usage, and residents' quality of life, especially during the rainy season. The PCD thanked the public for reporting environmental violations, which enables rapid investigation and impact reduction. The department will designate Huai Ta Khae as a priority monitoring area for continued intensive inspection.

On May 27, 2025, the Facebook page 'Pattaya Daily News' shared footage of three Thai men, two dressed in black vests resembling security uniforms, fighting a lone foreign tourist. The video caption joked, "When a foreigner wants to test his skills... challenge the security team to open a boxing match! Thai security with service hearts offering a promotion 'buy one, get plenty free' OTOP style." The incident occurred on Walking Street in South Pattaya, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri Province, in a 46-second clip showing both parties taking Muay Thai fighting stances before engaging in intense combat. The three Thai men attempted to swarm and punch the foreigner, who countered effectively, landing a powerful blow to one attacker's face that forced him to his knees. The Thai group regrouped and rushed to attack again until a foreign bystander in a white shirt intervened to stop the fight. When the reporter visited the scene around 8:30 AM near a go-go bar on Walking Street, all nearby establishments had closed. After contacting the original Facebook page, they confirmed the incident occurred around 3:50 AM that morning, clarifying that the foreigner had approached and instigated the Thai group before the fight broke out. Police at Pattaya City Station reported that the foreign tourist has not yet filed a complaint.

The Election Commission announced on May 27, 2569, the ballot colors for the June 28, 2569 elections for Bangkok governor, Bangkok Metropolitan Assembly members, Pattaya mayor, and Pattaya City Council members, with voting from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Luang Pu Fhan Ajaro of Wat Pa Udom Somphon in Phon District, Sakon Nakhon Province, was a master of vipassana meditation widely revered throughout the Northeast, with countless disciples. Born Fhan Suanrongka on August 20, 1885, in Phan District, Sakon Nakhon, he initially studied at Wat Phothchai under teachers Chuai Chaiyachombu and Phra Achan Ton Wuttisarn. After completing his education, he intended to enter government service and apprenticed as a district official under Upphong Khian in Khon Kaen. However, witnessing brutal executions, torture, and chaos in the judicial system profoundly affected him, instilling a sense of life's impermanence that led him to abandon government service and enter monastic life.

He was ordained at Wat Phon Thong and received full ordination at Wat Sethbangkom under Phra Kru Pong as his preceptor. After his ordination, he studied meditation practices under the renowned Phra Achan Man Bhuridatto, who became his principal teacher. Phra Achan Man directed him toward solitary forest practice with unwavering determination, avoiding worldly entanglements.

During his early practice, he contracted severe influenza while in solitude but cured himself through meditation. He later changed his monastic status and received additional ordination at Wat Photisomphon in Udon Thani Province. From 1954 to 1965, he regularly spent the Buddhist Lent in Tham Kham cave, which he loved for its conduciveness to celibate practice. Highly respected by senior monks and teachers for his humility, purity of conduct, strict adherence to Buddhist discipline, and wisdom, he traveled extensively establishing monasteries and became known throughout the Northeast as a "god of dhamma."

He maintained the strict practices of his teacher Phra Achan Man, living simply as a forest dwelling practitioner. He was demanding of his disciples, particularly unsparing in dismissing those lacking sincerity. He passed away peacefully on January 4, 1977, at the age of 78.

On May 27, 2025, the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) issued a statement addressing complaints circulating on social media from an electricity user in Hat Yai district, Songkhla province. The user claimed that despite requesting to disconnect service and closing their business due to extended flooding, they continued to receive charges for three-phase meter maintenance, resulting in accumulated unpaid bills. PEA clarified that the customer had contacted them in late February 2025 requesting service disconnection. PEA charged only the minimum monthly electricity fee for January 2025 totaling 8,045.29 baht, which the customer has already paid. Regarding minimum charges from February 2025 onward after the customer's disconnection request, PEA confirmed that the account was canceled and no further minimum charges have been assessed. PEA has since removed the meter and canceled the service, while clarifying the facts to ensure the customer understands the situation correctly.
