The English Premier League club Arsenal has unveiled Illan Meslier, a French goalkeeper, as their new player, signing him to a two-year deal with a future one-year extension option.
Meslier previously played for Leeds United in the Premier League and became a free agent when his contract expired at the end of the recent season, enabling the goalkeeper to join Arsenal without a transfer fee.
Meslier commented, "I'm delighted and very proud to be at Arsenal. I can't wait to show my love for this club and to win trophies with this team, because this is a club that constantly pursues championships."
Currently, Arsenal has David Raya as their first-choice goalkeeper. Meslier is likely to compete withGepa Arrizabalaga for the backup goalkeeper position, though there remains a possibility that Arrizabalaga could also depart the club.
