Global Payments Partners with Centara for Wider Tourist Payments
Global Payments has partnered with Thai hotel chain Centara to enhance cross-border payment options for foreign tourists, supporting 153 currencies and over 200 payment methods. The initiative aims to reduce revenue losses caused by currency conversion complexities and limited payment channels, especially as direct hotel bookings grow in Southeast Asia. The new system will roll out across Centara's properties in Thailand, providing smoother transactions from flight booking to hotel check‑in.
The partnership will integrate Global Payments' technology into Centara's hotels and resorts in Thailand to streamline cross-border payments for guests. Centara operates 93 properties across 12 countries, and the new system will allow the chain to display prices in 153 currencies, accept more than 200 payment types, connect to reliable foreign exchange rate sources, and offer rate‑locking features to boost booking confidence. By improving the payment infrastructure from flight bookings to hotel check‑in, the collaboration aims to expand Centara's foreign tourist base and strengthen its direct‑booking channel. Global Payments says the move aligns with its strategy to grow across Asia by partnering with high‑volume travel businesses that face international payment complexities. The service is expected to launch in Centara hotels soon.
