Authorities Inspect Fuel Tanker Ship in Surat Thani Waters
Marine Police Region 2 inspected fuel tanker BIG SEA 103 in Surat Thani waters on June 30 to prevent illegal fuel smuggling, finding no violations during the operation.
The Marine Police Region 2 in Surat Thani conducted an intensive inspection of fuel transport vessels to prevent illegal fuel smuggling within provincial waters on June 30, 2025. Deputy Governor Chakrakrit Fangcholjit, heading the operation, worked with Lt. Cmd. Nattapol Sinpulpol, deputy commander of Marine Police Region 2 Surat Thani, to coordinate enforcement efforts. Lt. Cmd. Nattapol stated that following directives from General Theprayuth Laplerueang, commander of Armed Forces Region 2 and Marine Police Regional Commander, Marine Police Region 2 Surat Thani has been tasked with investigating and suppressing illegal maritime fuel transport within the province's territorial waters. The operation involved multiple agencies including provincial administration, the Regional Port Authority Surat Thani branch, provincial police, commerce officials, customs officers at Ban Don checkpoint, and provincial excise department personnel. They inspected the fuel tanker BIG SEA 103, which was transporting 2,279,170 liters of fuel comprising 805,820 liters of gasohol-91 and 1,473,350 liters of diesel. The cargo originated from Star Petroleum Refining PLC storage and was destined for Star Fuels Marketing Limited in Surat Thani. The inspection found no irregularities whatsoever.
