Body of German Tourist Found After Drowning at Freedom Beach
A German tourist who drowned at Freedom Beach in Phuket on August 10 was found dead near rocks on August 11, while his companion was rescued alive.
Two foreign tourists drowned at Freedom Beach in Karon subdistrict, Phuket City. Rescue officials saved 28-year-old German woman Anduk Michel, but 30-year-old German man Jennic Juergen Nobel remained missing after the incident on August 10. On August 11, strong waves prevented sea rescue operations, so officials shifted to shoreline and rocky area searches. At 3:50 p.m., the Phuket Charitable Foundation deployed rubber boats along the beach despite difficult high-wave conditions. During the search, a second team spotted Nobel's body floating near rocks and brought it to Freedom Beach. Police from Karon Station examined the body, which was then transported to Vachira Hospital Phuket for autopsy.
