Chelsea Pursue Xabi Alonso as New Manager – Negotiations Underway with Real Madrid's Former Coach
Chelsea has opened negotiations with Xabi Alonso to become their next manager after sacking Liam Rosenior, with the former Real Madrid boss expressing interest in a Premier League role.
Chelsea is considering appointing Xabi Alonso as their new manager and has moved forward with contacting the former Real Madrid head coach. The club is searching for a permanent manager following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, who held the position for less than four months. In recent weeks, Chelsea has been linked with several candidates including Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth's manager, and Cesare Fabregas, Como's manager. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Chelsea is actively considering Alonso for the position. The 44-year-old former Real Madrid manager is open to the opportunity, though no decision has been finalized as the process continues, with Iraola also remaining a strong candidate. Football pundit Ben Jacobs reported that Alonso is among the top contenders for Chelsea's managerial position, and the club has already made contact with both the former Real Madrid boss and Bayer Leverkusen. Alonso is interested in working in the Premier League this summer. Previously, Alonso was linked with Liverpool, his former club as a player, but no formal approach materialized.
