Ted Lasso actor Cristo Fernandez signed a professional soccer contract with El Paso Locomotive after a two-month trial, fulfilling a childhood dream he abandoned at 15 due to injury.
Cristo Fernandez, the actor from the Ted Lasso series, has signed a professional contract with El Paso Locomotive, a team in America's second-tier USL Championship league. The 35-year-old actor, who played Dani Rojas in Ted Lasso (which aired in 2020 and 2023), spent two months on trial with the club before securing his contract. Fernandez had previously played youth soccer but had to abandon the sport at age 15 due to a knee injury. Upon his return to professional soccer, Fernandez reflected on his journey, saying: "Soccer has always been an essential part of my life and my identity. No matter where life has taken me, the dream of playing professional soccer has never left my heart."
