The King and Queen officially opened a new White Jade Tai Hong Temple building in Bangkok on May 20, commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the Po Teck Tung Foundation with traditional Buddhist ceremonies and merit-making activities.
At 5:21 p.m. on May 20, 2025, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen traveled by royal motorcade from Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall at Dusit Palace to officially open the White Jade Tai Hong Temple building commemorating the 72nd anniversary, located in Sathorn District, Bangkok.
Upon arrival, Prime Minister Anuthim Charnweerakul, Vice Chairman of the Po Teck Tung Foundation Vichit Chinnawongwrakul, and foundation committee members paid respects to receive the royal visit. The King then entered the temple building and lit incense and candles in reverence before the Triple Gem, paid homage, and received precepts administered by senior monks.
The King proceeded to the ceremony platform and pressed an electrical button to unveil the plaque reading "White Jade Tai Hong Temple Building Commemorating 72nd Anniversary." Monks chanted blessings and auspicious verses as drums and ceremonial instruments were played.
His Majesty then presented offerings to the monks and made a merit transfer. Foundation officials presented donations from benefactors. The King and Queen inscribed their names on a stone tablet and paid final respects before bidding farewell to the monks.
During the ceremony, Master Yen Yi, Chief Abbot of the Chinese Buddhist Association and Abbot of Po Tay Temple, presented a carved wooden statue of Tai Hong (Thean Si) to His Majesty, while Master Yen Nee, Deputy Chief Abbot and Abbot of Dragon Temple, presented a carved white jade statue of the Goddess of Mercy Bodhisattva to Her Majesty.
The King and Queen then proceeded to plant an umbrella pine tree as a commemorative memorial. The Po Teck Tung Foundation officials presented carved white jade statues of Tai Hong to His Majesty and of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva to Her Majesty.
The Po Teck Tung Foundation constructed the White Jade Tai Hong Temple building following southern Chinese architectural style on a 4-rai 17-square-wah plot of land.
