Chinese Young Filmmaker Goes Global: Creates Short Film with AI for Just 15,000 Baht, Attracts Hollywood Director Job Offer

A 29-year-old Chinese filmmaker created a viral AI-generated sci-fi short film on a 15,000-baht budget in 10 days, attracting a Hollywood director's collaboration offer after the work garnered 60 million views worldwide.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 27, the online world was abuzz when a 29-year-old Chinese filmmaker created an AI-generated short film with a budget of merely 15,000 baht over just 10 days. The work went viral globally, prompting acclaimed Hollywood director PJ Accetturo to publicly search for him and offer a collaboration.

Liu Zuowei's work titled "Zombie Scavenger" was released on Chinese social media on May 9. The 3.5-minute sci-fi short film in the steampunk genre tells a love story between a robot and a fashion model, inspired by the famous animated film WALL-E. Just one day after release, the director shared the work and praised it as "one of the best short films in years," causing the view count to skyrocket past 60 million worldwide.

Despite the international attention, Liu revealed he has no plans to relocate to the United States, viewing the Hollywood team more as international friends. He disclosed that he has no formal background in IT or art, but studied mechanical engineering and worked as a train driver for three years before transitioning to wedding photography.

Earlier this year, he began learning AI video creation after his family asked him to help promote their hotel online. He shared an important tip: when writing AI instructions, one must clearly explain "movement + motivation + emotion" rather than simply directing poses.

He affirmed his commitment to continuing skill development, saying he doesn't want to get swept away by short-term success and hopes his next work will receive similar audience appreciation.

Suchart Visits Ratchaburi, Orders Single Integrated Resource Management Approach

Natural Resources Minister Suchart Chomklin visited Ratchaburi on May 27 to enforce a unified resource management approach across forestry, water, wildlife, and disaster prevention agencies under the environment ministry.

4d ago Khaosod

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin and his team visited Ratchaburi province on May 27, 2026, to monitor operations of agencies under the ministry and deliver policies on natural resource management, environmental protection, water management, land administration, and disaster preparedness.

The inspection was welcomed by Ratchaburi Deputy Governor Phutthapong Suriyasing and attended by Water Resources Director-General Thirachunn Boonsitthi, regional offices, local government organizations, and area officials.

Suchart emphasized that all agencies must integrate work under the "single ministry approach" with people at the center, coordinating efforts across forest care, wildlife protection, water resources, groundwater, pollution, land management, and disaster prevention to deliver concrete, swift, transparent solutions that address public needs.

For forestry operations, he stressed the Forest Department must work with sincerity, stability, and transparency under strict legal principles—right is right, wrong is wrong—while ensuring convenient, swift, and fair public services.

The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plants must strengthen conservation area management, prevent encroachment, care for wildlife, and protect natural resources while building public understanding in local communities.

On water resources, the minister assigned the Water Resources Department to manage and develop sustainable water systems in cooperation with the Groundwater Department to support agriculture, domestic consumption, and establish water sources in the area. He also promoted rainwater harvesting to reduce drought risk and ensure water security.

For land administration, priority was given to implementing community land-for-farming programs under government policy, enabling farmers to secure agricultural livelihoods while participating in forest conservation. This approach reduces forest encroachment, promotes environmentally friendly farming, and supports the green economy and long-term income generation.

The Pollution Control Department and relevant agencies were tasked with closely monitoring and controlling pollution issues—odors, smoke, wastewater, noise, dust, and haze—through appropriate legal action while fostering understanding and coexistence between business, communities, and residents.

Suchart requested Ratchaburi identify suitable wetlands, forests, or natural areas as firebreaks and buffer zones for fire prevention in the western region, integrating risk area data, hot spots, and fuel management approaches to prevent and reduce impacts from wildfires, haze, and PM2.5 on the public.

He encouraged field staff and reiterated that the ministry's mission extends beyond resource management.

TCGI Launches Credit Guarantee Program 'TCGI Quick Big Win' to Support Thai SMEs and Informal Traders

Thailand's credit guarantee agency launched 'TCGI Quick Big Win' with a 50-billion-baht pool to help SMEs and informal traders access loans more easily, with guarantee amounts already reaching 26 billion baht since December 2024.

4d ago Khaosod

Sithikorn Direkasunthon, chairman and managing director of the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation for Small and Medium Enterprise (TCGI), revealed that SME credit has contracted for 15 consecutive quarters, with high credit rejection rates remaining a persistent problem. SME entrepreneurs seeking guarantors or collateral and improved access to credit to strengthen cash flow and navigate economic volatility and energy crises have found support through the 'TCGI Quick Big Win' program with a 50-billion-baht guarantee pool launched mid-December 2024. The program functions as a key stimulus mechanism to encourage financial institutions to extend more credit.

Since its launch, the program has demonstrated clear benefits for SMEs, with guarantee amounts reaching 26.048 billion baht as of April 30, 2025, representing a 2.37-fold increase compared to the same period last year. The program addresses all SME segments, including micro and small enterprises and informal traders seeking loans from 10,000 to 1 million baht, featuring free guarantee fees for the first three years, with subsequent years calculated using risk-based pricing to reflect each SME's credit costs.

TCGI is introducing credit scoring tools called 'TCG Score' to assess customer risk levels and reduce financial costs. The program also offers high-rate NPL compensation to help reduce credit costs and encourage greater lending by financial institutions. For SMEs already struggling with NPL status, TCGI provides continued support through the 'TCGI Ready to Help' program, offering debt reduction up to 50%, restructured payments extending up to 7 years with minimum installments of 500 baht, zero interest rates, and the ability to reduce principal before interest.

The measures also support SME traders and informal merchants needing working capital during the government's 'Thai Helping Thai Plus' campaign, which runs from June 1 to September 30, 2025. SME owners facing cash flow shortages, lacking collateral or guarantors, and concerned about operational disruptions can contact TCGI's Financial Advisory Centers for SMEs through LINE OA @tcgfirst for free financial health checks and consultation services.

Rubber Truck Loses Brakes on Downhill Grade Near Phu Thon Shrine, Highway 304: One Dead, Two Injured

A rubber truck with failed brakes collided with a chicken transport truck on a steep downhill section of Highway 304 in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province on May 27, killing the rubber truck driver and injuring two others.

4d ago Khaosod

At 7:15 a.m. on May 27, 2026, investigators from Wang Khon Daeng Police Station responded to a collision between two trucks on Highway 304 at kilometer 210 near the Phu Thon Shrine emergency exit area. The location is a steep, winding downhill section between Khao Yai and Thab Lan National Parks in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

At the scene, a fully loaded two-trailer rubber truck registered in Chaiyaphum collided with a chicken transport truck registered in Nakhon Ratchasima, causing it to lose control, hit the median barrier, and completely block traffic heading toward Kabinburi. The collision resulted in one fatality—the rubber truck driver identified as Mr. Pornphai (surname withheld)—and two injured persons. Emergency responders from the Sattasamputthatham Foundation rushed the injured to Nadi Hospital.

Initial investigation revealed the rubber truck was traveling from Nong Khai to deliver cargo to Laem Chabang deep-sea port in Chonburi. At the downhill section, the truck experienced brake failure, rendering it uncontrollable before it struck the chicken transport truck traveling from Nakhon Ratchasima to a slaughterhouse in Kabinburi.

Traffic authorities from the Department of Highways Region 5, Prachuap Khiri Khan Highway Office, and the Prachuap Khiri Khan Road Safety Command Center coordinated traffic management. The Prachuap Khiri Khan Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office opened a special contraflow lane at kilometer 210+400 to 209+700 to clear backed-up traffic. Authorities expected normal traffic flow to resume by approximately 1:00 p.m. after removing vehicle wreckage.

Opposition Forces Push Parliament Speaker to Reconsider Urgent Bill on 400 Billion Baht Loan Decree

Opposition lawmakers urged Parliament's speaker to reverse his rejection of an urgent designation for a bill to oversee a 400 billion baht loan decree, arguing the government plans to begin borrowing this week despite an ongoing Constitutio

4d ago Khaosod

During a House session on May 27 led by Speaker Sopon Saramung, opposition deputy faction leader Sirikanya Tansukul requested the speaker reconsider his decision to reject the urgent designation for a bill to establish a special committee to oversee the 400 billion baht loan decree. She presented three reasons why she believed the speaker lacked complete information: First, while the speaker said no borrowing has occurred yet, the cabinet already approved various projects on May 19 and was set to begin borrowing this week to distribute funds by June 1. Second, the speaker had cited the Constitutional Court's ongoing review as reason to wait, yet the government was proceeding with spending without waiting for the court's decision. Third, she noted the speaker had applied different standards—declaring the land bridge bill urgent while refusing the same designation for oversight of the 400 billion baht loan.

Opposition faction leader Prissadang Vatcharasindhu responded that while the opposition agrees to cooperate through inter-bloc consultation, Parliament rules clearly state that only the speaker holds authority to determine whether a bill is urgent before it enters the chamber. He questioned what criteria the speaker was using to judge urgency, asking why the land bridge matter qualified as urgent while the loan decree did not.

Meanwhile, Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva expressed understanding for both sides and the committee's reasoning, noting that historically when the Constitutional Court accepts cases, past governments have suspended related actions awaiting the court's ruling. However, he pointed out that the current situation differs—the government appears ready to proceed without waiting for the court's decision, thus creating a genuine need for oversight. He asked whether the speaker could request the committee review the matter again given these changed circumstances.

Police Raid Warehouse Stacked with Counterfeit Coffee and Fake Designer Bags Worth Millions

Police seized over 400 counterfeit items including designer bags and fake coffee worth more than one million baht from a warehouse in Roi Et province, arresting a 25-year-old woman accused of planning to distribute the knockoff goods.

4d ago Khaosod

On May 27, 2025, Major General Tassana Charupanya, commander of the Provincial Police Region, ordered Deputy Police Colonel Phuvadej Chulkasawei and Police Lieutenant Colonel Pongsert Nummag to lead officers from the Intellectual Property Department under the Ministry of Commerce in a raid on a warehouse in Roi Et province. The operation was conducted following a tip-off regarding the illegal sale of counterfeit trademarked goods.

During the search, officers found 25-year-old Ms. Porn, who claimed ownership of all the seized merchandise. Authorities confiscated a large quantity of counterfeit branded items, including 75 fake Chanel bags, 125 Longchamp bags, 80 Louis Vuitton bags, 4 RIMOWA bags, 20 knockoff insulated tumblers, and 104 counterfeit ready-to-drink coffees. The total haul comprised 408 items valued at over one million baht.

During interrogation, Ms. Porn admitted to owning all the goods, which consisted mainly of counterfeit designer handbags and counterfeit branded merchandise that she planned to sell to customers. She was charged with possession of counterfeit trademarks for the purpose of distribution and infringing on registered trademarks of others in the kingdom. She was detained and the case was referred to Mueang Roi Et Police Station for further prosecution.

Authorities warned the public to be cautious when purchasing counterfeit products, as they are typically made from low-quality materials with poorly executed logos and trademark details that do not meet standards. Such items may pose health risks to consumers, particularly drinks and food containers that come into direct contact with consumables.
