Geological Department Warns 13 Provinces Of Landslides And Flash Floods
Thailand's Geological Department warned 13 provinces including Phuket, Krabi, and Trang of imminent landslides and flash floods as monsoon rains exceed 100mm daily over the next 2-3 days.
The Geological Disaster Operation Center under the Department of Mineral Resources issued a warning on July 1, 2569 to remain vigilant against landslides and flash floods over the next 2-3 days. The alert applies to 13 provinces: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Tak, Nan, Phichit, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, and Trang. A monsoon trough is moving across the northern and upper northeastern regions, while a strengthened southwest monsoon is affecting the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, causing continuous heavy rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters in 24 hours. Flash floods have already begun in certain areas and may trigger landslides. The department is requesting volunteers and local residents to monitor conditions closely, report incidents to relevant agencies, and implement previously established warning protocols if disasters occur.
