Going Viral! Bride and Groom Set Up Wrestling Ring at Wedding, Loser Does Housework
A Chinese couple replaced their traditional wedding reception with a wrestling ring, staging matches where the losing team must handle household chores—with the bride ultimately defeating the groom in a dramatic finale.
A bride and groom in Quanzhou, Guangdong Province, China created an unforgettable wedding by setting up a wrestling ring in the middle of their reception and staging an intense match with the rule that the losing team must handle household chores in the future.
Videos from inside the event showed wrestlers competing fiercely with throws, locks, and intense grappling that captivated guests throughout the performance. Many watched intently without blinking, and even children stood holding rice bowls while eating, drawn in by the electric atmosphere.
Groom He explained that the wedding took place on May 5th. During planning, he discovered wedding costs significantly exceeded their budget. As a professional wrestler wanting to promote wrestling, which is still viewed as a niche entertainment, he consulted his bride and received her full support.
"Our expenses far exceeded expectations," he said. "Since I already work in entertainment—wrestling—I thought with this amount of money I could organize multiple wrestling shows instead. It made more sense to create something original with a wrestling performance at our wedding rather than spend unnecessarily on traditional arrangements. My wife fully supported the idea."
He brought the wrestling ring used for touring performances to replace the traditional wedding stage. All wedding activities, including welcomes and guest entertainment, took place on the wrestling ring, while certain ceremonies like vows, toasts, and ring exchanges were shortened to make room for the wrestling show.
The highlight came after the opening ceremony when the couple posed the question: "After marriage, who will do the housework?" before dividing guests into teams for best-of-three wrestling matches, with the losing team assigned future household duties.
Toward the end of the competition, the bride performed a spectacular shoulder throw, slamming the groom to the ground amid cheers from all the guests. The groom joked afterward: "In the end, I lost anyway. How could I make her do the housework?"
After the video went viral, countless netizens commented that it was a strange, fun, and memorable wedding. The groom expressed joy that beyond making guests happy, he also helped people understand and appreciate wrestling more.
