Grandson Shoots Grandparents Dead Over Land Dispute
A grandson shot his elderly grandparents dead during a confrontation over a long-running land dispute in Nonthaburi Province on July 28, leaving two others wounded before residents subdued him.
Police responded at 7:00 a.m. on July 28, 2569 to a shooting incident in Laharn Subdistrict, Bangbuathong District, Nonthaburi Province. Officers found two bodies on the ground floor: a 71-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman, both shot dead. Two other family members were wounded trying to intervene.
The suspect, identified as the grandson of the deceased victims, arrived at the house around 6:30 a.m. and got into an argument with the family over a land access dispute. He then opened fire on the elderly couple with a handgun before the two injured relatives attempted to help. Residents who witnessed the shooting subdued the suspect with a knife to the head before police arrived.
According to investigators, the conflict stemmed from a decade-long property dispute over shared access to adjoining properties. The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment of his head wound, and the firearm used in the shooting was seized as evidence. The incident resulted in two deaths and injuries to three others, including the suspect.
