Gunshot Rings Out at Police Apartment; Nurse Wife Shocked to Find Her Husband, an Officer, Shot in the Room
A Bangkok police lieutenant was found shot in the head at a police staff apartment early May 27 after his nurse wife heard the gunshot and discovered him critically wounded.
At 4 a.m. on May 27, 2026, officers from Lumpini Police Station responded to a report of a police officer shot inside a police staff apartment located behind the station in Bangkok's Pathumwan district. Emergency responders from the Bangkok Emergency Medical Center and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation arrived at the scene. Inside the room, they found a lieutenant-ranked officer with a gunshot wound to the head, lying in a pool of blood in critical condition. Officers performed CPR for more than 30 minutes before transporting him to Phyathai 1 Hospital immediately. According to the investigation, the officer had been resting in the apartment with his wife, a nurse at a private hospital, when a gunshot suddenly rang out. His wife discovered his body covered in blood and quickly alerted authorities. Initial findings suggest the officer may have been under stress from health or personal issues and decided to shoot himself inside the apartment. Medical staff are currently working to save his life.
