Heavy Rain Warning for 8 Southern Provinces
The article is a weather warning for 8 southern Thai provinces (Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat) for Oct 27-28, with heavy to very heavy rain, risk of flash floods, and high waves
The Eastern Southern Meteorological Center issued announcement No. 6 (26/2026) warning of heavy to very heavy rain in the eastern southern region affecting October 27-28. During this period, the region will experience continuous rain with heavy downpours in many areas and very heavy rain in some locations. "Very heavy rain in some areas of Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat; heavy rain in some areas of Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat," the announcement stated. Authorities urge the public to beware of dangers from thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, heavy to very heavy rainfall, and accumulated precipitation, which may trigger flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying zones due to the monsoon trough crossing the south. In the Gulf of Thailand, waves exceed two meters in thunderstorm areas; mariners should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in storm-hit zones. The Songkhla Irrigation Project reports three medium-sized reservoirs — Klong Sadao, Klong La, and Klong Jamhai — hold a combined 28.81 million cubic meters of water. Meanwhile, water levels at all five monitoring stations in the Klong U Taphao sub-basin remain normal, averaging 5.71 meters below spillway level and showing a stable trend.
