Immigration Police Seize Parcels With Phones, SIMs in Pencil Boxes

Nong Khai immigration police intercepted five suspicious parcels at the local post office that contained mobile phones, SIM cards, bank books and ATM cards hidden inside colour‑pencil boxes. The items were destined for overseas scam and online‑gambling gangs, with the same sender name and address on all packages. Authorities said public vigilance in reporting odd deliveries helped uncover the scheme, and further forensic checks are underway.

Nong Khai immigration police seized parcels stuffed with mobile phones, SIM cards, bank books and ATM cards hidden in colour‑pencil boxes, suspected to be bound for overseas scam and online‑gambling gangs. On 19 October 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Thiyaapharp Rangsiprommakun, deputy superintendent of Nong Khai Immigration, Pol. Lt. Col. Apichat Khonta, immigration inspector, together with immigration officers and Border Patrol Police 245 Nong Khai, examined five suspicious parcels at the Nong Khai Post Office’s Na Gai branch after coordinating with the provincial post office chief to detain them. Investigation showed the parcels shared the same sender name and address. Inside were 11 mobile phones, 11 SIM cards, two bank books and nine ATM cards, one of the boxes concealed inside a colour‑pencil container. Pol. Lt. Col. Thiyaapharp Rangsiprommakun said members of the public assist authorities by reporting irregularities such as frequent parcel deliveries to empty houses, which raised suspicions and led to the tip‑off. He added that the network is believed to be a foreign scam and online‑gambling ring that ships the equipment to Nong Khai for local agents to collect and forward to neighbouring countries to facilitate illegal activities and money transfers. Further steps will include fingerprint checks and gathering additional evidence for legal proceedings.
