Jürgen Klopp, former Liverpool manager, has emerged as a potential candidate to become the next head coach of the German national team should Julian Nagelsmann step down. Nagelsmann's future at the helm has come under scrutiny following Germany's elimination in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup. According to Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger, Klopp, who currently serves as head of global soccer for the Red Bull group, is open to taking the Germany job if Nagelsmann resigns or is sacked. Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg identified Klopp as the leading candidate for the position. The 59-year-old former coach previously denied having any immediate interest in the role.
