A 48-year-old man named Monchai was fatally beaten by a group over a motorcycle loan dispute and his body was abandoned in a shelter outside a residence in Ang Thong province. Police arrested one suspect, Ekchai, aged 45, while two other assailants, Ken and Somjate, remain on the run.

At 7:30 a.m. on August 4, 2025, officers from Mueang Ang Thong Police Station responded to a report of a body found outside a home in Muang Subdistrict. The victim, identified as Monchai, 48, had multiple wounds on his back. CCTV footage revealed a bronze Isuzu pickup truck depositing the body at a roadside shelter around 12:09 a.m. that morning.

During questioning, Monchai's mother, 76-year-old Phayao, stated her son had lived with her for only two months and suffered from heart disease and severe disabilities. Ekchai confessed that Ken and Somjate had beaten Monchai with a wooden ladder, rubber tubing, and PVC pipe because he had borrowed a motorcycle and refused to return it. The three suspects then placed Monchai's unconscious body in the pickup truck and left it at the shelter.

Police brought Ekchai to the crime scene for a confession reenactment. Although Ekchai knelt to ask forgiveness from Monchai's mother, she refused to grant it, insisting police pursue full legal action. Police are preparing arrest warrants for Ken and Somjate and will proceed with legal proceedings.

Phluk Daeng Police Station arrested two Cambodian suspects for motorcyle theft operations across Rayong city on August 4, 2025. Pol. Col. Nawin Sinthuratana, commander of Phluk Daeng Station, and his investigation team successfully apprehended the two men and seized eight stolen motorcycles that had been prepared for cross-border sale.

The arrests followed an investigation initiated by police after receiving multiple reports of stolen motorcycles. Officers expanded their inquiry and tracked down the suspects.

The gang's modus operandi involved stealing motorcycles and hiding them together in a forest area near a dirt pit in Moo 7, Tambon Mae Nam Khoo, where they would take turns guarding the vehicles while waiting for transport teams to smuggle them across the border. Gang members earned 7,000-10,000 baht per bike. They primarily targeted automatic motorcycles, especially PCX and Geo Lano models.

Currently, officers are verifying the stolen motorcycles to contact owners for return and expanding the investigation to identify other individuals involved in the theft operation.

Phluk Daeng Police urge the public to exercise caution when parking motorcycles by securing steering locks, wheel locks, and parking in well-lit areas with CCTV coverage. Anyone with information about suspicious individuals or leads on the theft ring is urged to report immediately to police.

The fishing vessel Chok Kananya has been recovered and brought to shore in Khlong Yai district, Trat province, after sinking in a storm on July 28, 2569. The boat's owner, Amnaj, believes all five crew members—one Thai skipper and four Cambodian workers—have died. The vessel was towed to port at Baan Khlong Maham on August 4 at 4:15 p.m., where residents and family members of the deceased crew waited to receive the vessel.

The boat left on a fishing expedition on July 10 with no weather warnings reported. After two to three days of lost communication, the vessel sank near Lam Tian Cape off Koh Kood island.
