BBC reports that Manchester United has agreed terms with Michael Carrick to become the club's new permanent manager on an initial two-year contract with a one-year extension option. Carrick stepped in to manage Manchester United temporarily after Ruben Amorim was sacked in early January, and has delivered outstanding performances, winning 10 of 15 league matches to secure third place and UEFA Champions League qualification for next season. On May 15, major media outlets confirmed that Manchester United had made a formal offer to Carrick for the permanent head coach position. As of May 16, BBC states that Manchester United has reached an agreement with Carrick, with formal contract negotiations now underway and an official announcement expected within 48 hours. While there is some uncertainty about completing the deal before Sunday's match against Nottingham Forest on May 17, the club intends to finalize it before the season's final home game. Carrick will sign an initial two-year contract with a 12-month extension option.
