Minister Rebukes Opposition MP Over False Flood Claims
Minister Pharadon Prisananantakul accused Bangkok opposition MP Supanat Meechainant of spreading false claims that the government had underestimated flood relief funds by four times and demanded an extra 12 billion baht. He warned that such misinformation could cause social unrest and urged the public to rely on official information, while calling on opposition MPs to act responsibly and help flood victims instead of fabricating data.
Pharadon Prisananantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, said Bangkok MP Supanat Meechainant of the Prachachat Party should be out helping flood victims rather than sitting around fabricating data to discredit the government, stressing that he is a parliamentarian, not an influencer, and urging the public not to be misled. Speaking on October 17, 2026, he accused the MP of claiming the government had miscalculated flood relief funds, saying the amount was four times too low and demanding an extra 12 billion baht. Pharadon warned that spreading such falsehoods could mislead the public, cause social unrest, and even lead to riots. He said the government understands people's needs, noting the Cabinet had approved an initial 4.7 billion baht for flood relief and would consider additional funding if the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department submits a request. He thanked the public for not believing the rumors and urged them to follow official information, while calling on opposition MPs to act sensibly and stop creating such waves, reminding them they are representatives of the people, not influencers. He added that Bangkok MPs should cooperate with state agencies to assist flood victims instead of spreading half-true information aimed at discrediting the government.
