MP Faces Online Gambling Case, Demands Court Ruling
Songkhla MP Chonlapat Naksan faces online gambling charges accepted by provincial court and vows to defend himself through legal proceedings rather than public opinion.
On August 15, 2025, Chonlapat Naksan, Songkhla MP representing District 4 from the Palang Pracharath Party, posted on Facebook about the Songkhla Provincial Court's acceptance of charges related to operating an online gambling website. He acknowledged public concern and questions surrounding the case, which the court has now accepted.
Chonlapat stated he has long believed that accusations should be proven through facts and evidence within the justice system, not decided by public opinion. He emphasized that rather than avoiding the legal process, he intends to fully engage his right to defend himself, presenting all evidence and facts before a process he respects and trusts.
He expressed confidence in the court's independence and its ability to conduct proceedings based on law and evidence without interference. Chonlapat stressed that courts—not social currents—should determine guilt or innocence. He noted that as an MP, he understands public scrutiny is appropriate and that his position does not place him above the law. He stated readiness to face the same legal process as any citizen and to respect whatever verdict the court ultimately delivers.
Chonlapat also acknowledged other accusations that have emerged over time and said he is prepared to address all of them through proper legal channels. He called for evidence, facts, and the justice system to provide answers, and pledged to accept the court's final judgment as the definitive response to all public doubts. He reaffirmed his confidence in the judicial process and commitment to proving his case through facts and evidence before the court, not through statements alone.
