On May 18, 2026, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin chaired the first 2026 meeting of the committee overseeing royal initiative projects under the ministry's strategic direction. The meeting, held in Conference Room 202 at the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry building, was attended by Permanent Secretary Dr. Raviwan Poorithet and senior ministry officials to establish efficient implementation guidelines and achieve concrete results.

The meeting reviewed progress on over 200 royal initiative projects under the ministry's responsibility, covering conservation, restoration, and environmental development across all dimensions to support sustainable development policy while improving public quality of life and maintaining ecological balance.

Under the current reign, the ministry has designated 10 priority projects for accelerated implementation, including the Sichang Island development project in Chonburi Province, the Huai Sai lower development project in Phetchaburi Province, and the Thai marine coral reef and marine life conservation project under the royal initiative of Princess Sirivannavari Nariruattana, as well as the Klong Prembprachakon development project.

Minister Suchart emphasized that royal initiative projects are critically important to the government and instructed all units to accelerate implementation and establish task forces according to their responsibilities to achieve concrete results quickly. He also stressed the importance of communicating project outcomes to the public to foster participation and promote sustainable natural resource and environmental development going forward.
