Navy Confirms Vessel in News Reports Not Thai-Flagged
The Royal Thai Navy confirmed that a commercial vessel involved in a reported Oman Gulf incident is not Thai-flagged, while confirming one Thai cargo ship in the region remains secure with its crew.
The Royal Thai Navy confirmed on July 18 that the commercial vessel reported in news stories about an incident in the Oman Gulf is not Thai-flagged. Navy spokesperson Pol. Maj. Gen. Paratsch Rattanaichaiphan explained that after the story sparked concerns on social media, the Navy's Operations Center coordinated with the National Command Center for Protecting National Interests at Sea (MCRN) and the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) of the Port Authority of Thailand to verify vessel tracking data. Their investigation confirmed the reported vessel is not Thai.
The Navy also checked on Thai cargo ships operating in the Oman Gulf area. Currently there is one Thai cargo vessel in the region, and after coordinating with the responsible parties for that ship's safety, the Navy confirmed that the vessel and its crew are secure, with normal operations and missions continuing as planned. The Navy urged the public to follow updates from trusted government agencies and reliable news sources, and pledged to continue monitoring maritime security closely while coordinating with relevant agencies to protect Thai vessels and national maritime interests.
