Officials Call for Faster Intelligence After Ranger Attack
Five rangers were killed in a Narathiwat attack, prompting officials to demand faster intelligence sharing and improved security coordination to prevent future militant strikes.
Following an attack that killed five rangers in Narathiwat province, Prime Minister's Advisor Wan Muhammadnor Matha called on July 23 for all parties to strengthen security measures and improve intelligence coordination. He emphasized that faster and more accurate information sharing is essential to prevent well-armed militant attacks like the latest incident in Narathiwat. Wan Muhammadnor stated that if intelligence had been better, the attackers would not have arrived so heavily armed, and the government must conduct rigorous situational analysis. He noted that efforts must combine security operations, territorial protection, and rapid engagement with dissident groups through continuous monitoring, while maintaining support for sustained peace negotiations as a matter of mutual interest.
