On October 27 at Government House, Education Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong, in his capacity as Pheu Thai Party Secretary-General, addressed the party's candidate selection for the by-election in Sa Kaeo District 3 to replace the late Surasak Chingnuan. Prasert noted that the constituency has traditionally been a Pheu Thai stronghold, with the party's candidate finishing second in the last election — Sruang Thienthong, the party's deputy leader. Sruang has continuously worked the district even without holding office, actively assisting residents during flood disasters and conducting political activities under the Pheu Thai banner. He is considered a senior figure within the party and served as an MP for more than three terms. Prasert stated that Sruang is understood to be Pheu Thai's nominee, pending formal approval by the party's executive board. When asked about the potential impact if the Kla Tham Party were to join the coalition, Prasert emphasized that currently only Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai are coalition partners, as Kla Tham has not yet attained that status.
