On May 27, 2026, police officers led by Lieutenant General Sayam Boonserm, Metropolitan Police Bureau Commander, coordinated the arrest of three Myanmar nationals—Ms. So So, Ms. Nini Win, and Mr. U Sae—in the Suan Luang district of Bangkok. The arrests followed the discovery of a 6-year-old boy with a broken arm who had been abused for failing to meet sales targets. The suspects allegedly brought children from Myanmar tribal communities to Thailand to work selling flowers and candy at restaurants and service establishments between 3 p.m. and 3 a.m. Children who failed to meet quotas were beaten and denied food. Police obtained arrest warrants from Phra Khanong Criminal Court (numbers 505/2569, 506/2569, and 507/2569) dated May 26, 2026. The charges include violations of the Human Trafficking Prevention and Suppression Act B.E. 2551, the Child Protection Act B.E. 2546, and the Begging Control Act. Five additional children were found at the residence and have been taken into protective custody, with authorities coordinating with relevant agencies for further assistance.
