On July 26, 2026, parents Thanasak, 53, and Kanyawee, 45, reported that their 28-year-old daughter Chutathip, who works as a professional courier for Thai nationals residing in Japan, departed Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport on July 11, 2026. Upon arrival at Fukuoka Airport on July 12 at approximately 7:00 a.m., Japanese customs officials discovered methamphetamine concealed inside a coffee packet in her baggage and detained her on drug trafficking charges.
The family acknowledges that their daughter was careless in not thoroughly inspecting the parcels before transporting them, but insists that she has never engaged in drug-related behavior throughout her life. They have appealed to authorities to investigate the mysterious person who provided the drug-filled package, suspecting an organized trafficking operation may be involved.
Lieutenant Colonel Artpol Anusit, deputy commander of Region 1 Police, has now ordered Bang Bua Thong Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation and assigned a task force to review closed-circuit television footage to identify the package sender and any other individuals connected to the incident.
