Social Security Office Confirms Board Election Results Expected Early November
The Social Security Office is verifying election results for the new Social Security Board, with announcements expected as early as November. Officials said no objections have been raised regarding the vote or candidate qualifications, and the process is on schedule. Once the central election committee endorses the results, the 14 board members will be formally appointed.
Social Security Office spokesperson Malakarn Porpratum said that after provincial election committees submit their vote totals, the office will compile data from all 77 entities (76 provinces plus Bangkok) to verify and tabulate the results before forwarding them to the central election committee for endorsement. If the process proceeds smoothly, the 14 board members could assume office in early November. She noted that approximately five million votes must be checked, but no additional qualification reviews are required at this time. Any objections would be handled according to the Social Security Act and the 2024 election regulations, and so far none have been filed. Once the central election committee officially endorses the results and a seven‑day objection period passes without challenge, the Social Security Office will submit the 14 names to the Labor Minister for formal appointment as employer and insured‑person representatives on the board.
