On July 2, 2025, Sikhiu Police received a report of a fatal shooting at a house in Nonna Village, Ladbuakhao Subdistrict, Sikhiu District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. He had been shot once in the left chest, with the bullet piercing his heart. Though she tried to stop her husband from going down, fearing violence, he descended hoping to talk and resolve the dispute. The two met near the sugarcane forest, where the son shot his stepfather once, causing him to collapse and die. The son then fled into the forest.

The couple had long-standing conflicts and had argued many times, but she never expected it would escalate to fatal violence. She appealed to her son to surrender to police and face justice.

Brig. Gen. Narongsak Promtha, Commander of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, stated that the incident occurred early that morning. Preliminary investigation confirmed that the stepson used a firearm to shoot his stepfather fatally before fleeing. The initial cause was identified as a family dispute, with both parties having ongoing quarrels before the conflict escalated to murder. Details about the firearm are still under investigation.

Police ordered all units to intensively pursue and apprehend the suspect, believed to still be hiding in the area. Checkpoints and surveillance were set up along escape routes in Sikhiu District, neighboring areas, Pakchong District, and Nong Sarai Subdistrict, as the suspect was reportedly using a motorcycle. On July 2, 2026, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchati Chomklin presided over a handover ceremony for raw materials to produce patient turning sheets under the Upcycling for Life project, partnering with the Foundation for Coral Reef and Marine Life Conservation under Princess Siriwannavaree Narissara Rajakhanya. The patient turning sheets, made 100 percent from upcycled materials, provide body support, reduce friction, minimize pressure ulcer risk, offer good ventilation, are durable, and ease caregiver burden when moving patients. Minister Suchati added that raw materials come from multi-sector cooperation: waste sorting by ministry personnel following Green Office guidelines, marine debris collection from beaches and river mouths, and fishing net scraps from coastal communities. Materials are sent to a school waste bank in Tha Khwam subdistrict, Chachoengsao province, where students learn waste management and resource value before private sector partners produce the patient turning sheets for medical use.

Director General Dr. Pinsak Surasawadeekul of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources noted that plastic waste in the ocean significantly impacts ecosystems, tourism, and coastal communities. Field surveys also reveal many bedridden patients lack quality medical equipment due to high costs. Police reported on July 1 that a 69-year-old man faces charges of sexually abusing a 7-year-old second-grade student in Nong Bua Lamphu province. The incident occurred in May, and the victim's family filed a police report at Sri Bun Rueang Police Station.

According to local officials, the girl's 84-year-old grandmother noticed her granddaughter with 100 baht, unusual since the family typically gives the child only 5-10 baht for shopping at a nearby village store. When questioned, the girl revealed that the shop owner, identified as Mr. K., had given her the money. She gradually disclosed that the abuse had occurred multiple times. On July 2, 2569, independent activist Sanhanath Satthapon submitted a letter to House Speaker Sophon Saramay requesting an investigation into the Political Development, Communications, and Public Participation Committee's actions. The committee had been examining the qualifications of the NBTC chair and summoned documents and relevant agencies for clarification.

The complaint argues that the committee's conduct raises suspicions regarding the chair's impartiality, proper use of authority, and procedural compliance. The activist questions whether the actions conform to constitutional law and parliamentary rules.

The complaint highlights that the same person—the committee chair—previously, as a parliamentary member alongside Rakchanak Srinok, filed documents with the selection committee challenging the NBTC chair's legal qualifications. First, under the 2562 House Rules Article 90, committees must report fact-finding activities to the House Speaker and avoid duplicating other committees' work. Second, requesting documents from state officials requires compliance with the 2568 Act on Parliamentary Committee Powers Article 6, which mandates notifying the Prime Minister or relevant ministers beforehand. Third, the complaint notes no evidence exists that the committee passed a resolution authorizing the investigation as required by Article 7 of the same act.

The complaint also notes that the NBTC chair's qualifications were previously examined by another parliamentary committee on May 15, 2568, with the same complainant. This raises questions about whether the current investigation duplicates prior work.
