URGENT: Cabinet Cancels 60-Day Visa Exemption, Reverts to Original 30-Day Standard
Thailand's Cabinet has canceled the 60-day visa exemption for roughly 90 countries, reverting most travelers to a standard 30-day visa effective immediately.
On May 19, 2026 at Government House, Tourism and Sports Minister Suraskad Panjcharoenvaragul announced that the Cabinet has passed a resolution to cancel the 60-day visa exemption for approximately 90 countries, including countries with multiple visa categories. These nations will revert to the original visa criteria. Relevant agencies will be notified of this Cabinet resolution. The visa policy committee will subsequently review visa categories on a country-by-country basis to determine which visa type is most appropriate for each nation, taking into consideration security and economic factors. All countries affected by the 60-day exemption cancellation will return to their previous visa classification, with most receiving approximately 30 days.
