Wat Arun is preparing public viewing areas along the Chao Phraya River for the Royal Kathin river procession led by His Majesty the King on November 6.
Wat Arun is preparing venues for the public to witness the royal procession and admire the royal barge procession on November 6. On October 21, 2026, Phra Phromwacharamethi, the abbot of Wat Arun, ordered the temple's secretariat to coordinate with various agencies to prepare for the important royal ceremony on November 6, while also arranging public viewing areas to admire the royal barge procession. Deputy Abbot Phra Rajavajiratanaphorn of Wat Arun Ratchavararam stated that this year the temple hosts a major royal ceremony: the Royal Kathin robe offering by water, led by His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen. Accordingly, the abbot directed the temple secretariat to coordinate with participating agencies for the ceremony on November 6, 2026. Currently, Wat Arun is preparing reception venues and public areas for attendees at various points around the temple. The temple is fully prepared to cooperate with government agencies, including the Royal Thai Navy, Bangkok Yai District Office, and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. The Deputy Abbot added that the highlight of the Royal Kathin at Wat Arun is the royal barge procession, considered a grand and exceptionally beautiful ceremonial procession. Beyond paying respects to His Majesty, the public can also admire the barge procession. The abbot has arranged viewing areas for Buddhists and the public at Wat Thaweethapisek School and along the Chao Phraya River at Tha Tian pier. The temple's terrace can accommodate about 100 people, and the abbot consulted with venue managers to allocate additional space. Phra Rajavajiratanaphorn also noted that during the actual rehearsal, the Royal Thai Navy opened the event for public observation at the temple's designated area near Wat Thaweethapisek School and Mae Phuak pier, accommodating 100 people on October 21. The October 28 rehearsal is fully booked, leaving only October 21 available.
