Bangkok's Bang Khen Police Station and Kasetsart University held a briefing on July 22, 2026, to educate students about call center fraud scams. Police Colonel Anant Vorasart, commander of Bang Khen Station, along with other senior police officials and university administrators including Acting President Prof. Dr. Kongsakdi Thiengtharm, met with student organization leaders to raise awareness and understanding of cyber scams to protect students from call center gangs.

Call center fraud is currently spreading rapidly with students as prime targets. Scammers use multiple deception methods, including falsely promising overseas education scholarships, impersonating police or DSI officers and claiming a victim's bank account is linked to money-laundering cases, demanding self-isolation with no contact allowed, requesting money transfers for verification purposes, and staging kidnappings to extort ransom from parents.

Authorities emphasized three key rules to remember: do not believe information received by phone, never transfer money under any circumstances, and do not follow instructions given over the phone (if uncertain, hang up and verify first). On July 22, Supajai Jamutsorn, a Bhumjaithai Party list member and legal affairs representative, addressed allegations that Yingluck Achanan, director of iLaw, had submitted a case to the opposition coalition committee requesting an investigation into Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and nine other Bhumjaithai ministers and MPs for allegedly conducting illegal Senate selection. Supajai argued that iLaw, the Progressive Movement of Thanathorn Juanroongruangkit, and Pheu Thai Party operate as a coordinated network. He claimed that before the Senate selection, these groups campaigned together to field candidates under initiatives like "People's Senate" and "Orange Senate," but after failing to achieve their goals, they began attacking the blue-affiliated Senate and Bhumjaithai.

Supajai contended that iLaw and Pheu Thai had ulterior motives and overlapping interests in filing the complaint, citing shared losses when their coordinated efforts did not succeed. He called for an end to using parliamentary committees as political tools and urged respect for the justice process. He noted that the current Senate quota case is under investigation by the Election Commission and the Department of Special Investigation, and that these organizations should be allowed to proceed.

Supajai declared that if iLaw and Pheu Thai truly respect the law, they must allow the justice process to continue rather than holding accusation forums. He asserted that any harm to Bhumjaithai's reputation would be met with legal proceedings, similar to other defamation cases being pursued by the party. He emphasized that Bhumjaithai's right to sue is identical to the right exercised by Pichai Pittakup, secretary of a civil oversight association, in filing complaints against Anutin regarding alleged indirect involvement in local official misconduct during the past election.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to launch a new feature on the Traffy Fondue application that will allow residents to request adult diapers for elderly people and patients requiring long-term care, with the system expected to go live by 1 August. Deputy Bangkok Governor Tavida Kamolvej said on Wednesday that the new function is intended to improve access to healthcare benefits for eligible residents. She said some requests have already been submitted through the system, but officials need one to two weeks to finalize the reporting form. The process requires medical verification of applicants' conditions as well as accurate location data, making the protection of users' personal information a key priority.

The BMA expects the system to be fully operational by 1 August. However, Tavida said the launch of the application feature will not mean immediate distribution of adult diapers. Authorities will still need to conduct on-site assessments, verify applicants' locations and complete procurement procedures for bulk purchases.

The BMA has coordinated with Thailand's National Health Security Office (NHSO), which has agreed to provide funding through the national health security fund and oversee procurement and quality inspections.
