Election Commission Replaced Entirely as Nan Province Reissues Voting After 69 Ballots Mistakenly Torn
On February 22, 2024, a new voting session was conducted for the parliamentary representative election in Nan Province's District 1, Unit 3 in Mueang Nan district after election officers accidentally tore 69 ballots during the previous February 8 election.
From 8:00 AM, eligible voters steadily arrived to cast their votes amidst systematic support from officials. The polling station at Ban Sri Kerd Assembly Hall in Chai Sathan Subdistrict had 579 registered voters, compared to 425 who voted in the previous election.
Nan Province Governor Chainarak Wongai and Election Commission Director Prathan Prompha oversaw the process to ensure transparency. Governor Chainarak emphasized that elections are a crucial democratic mechanism, while the Election Commission director confirmed that a new election commission team was appointed and instructed to be extra careful.
The overall atmosphere remained calm, with administrative staff, police, and volunteers closely monitoring security, reflecting strong cooperation in maintaining election standards and democratic confidence in Nan Province.
