Transportation Committee Inspects Thai-Chinese High-Speed Rail Project Progress
The Senate Transportation Committee visited Chiang Rak Noi Railway Station to track the progress of the Thai-Chinese High-Speed Rail Project Phase 1 between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Anant Pho-Nim Daeng, Acting Governor of State Railway of Thailand, disclosed that the site visit aims to understand project implementation, identify obstacles, and accelerate construction according to the planned schedule, while ensuring careful, transparent, and safe project development.
Currently, the project has a cumulative progress of 51.74%. Two civil work contracts have been completed: Contract 1-1 from Klang Dong to Pang Asoke and Contract 2-1 from Sikhio to Kut Chik. Ten additional contracts are under construction, and two contracts (4-1 from Bang Sue to Don Mueang and 4-5 from Ban Pho to Phra Kaew) have not yet been signed.
The first phase of the Thai-Chinese High-Speed Rail Project involves a total investment of 179,412.21 million baht, covering 250.77 kilometers with 14 civil work contracts and one system contract. Most of the route (188.68 kilometers) will be elevated to reduce railway crossings and enhance safety.
The project is scheduled to commence service by 2030, with plans for future expansion to other regions.
