Shocking Bank Robbery Attempt: Man Douses Bank Manager with Gasoline, Demands 5 Million Baht
At 3:37 PM on February 16, 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Pairoj Phetploy from Bang Phli Police Station received a report of an attempted bank robbery inside a shopping mall. A 48-year-old man, wearing a blue jacket and visibly injured, arrived from Chonburi Province with a desperate plan. He brought gasoline to threaten the bank manager and demand 5 million baht, but was quickly stopped by bank employees and local citizens.
The suspect claimed he was unemployed and financially desperate, which drove him to attempt the robbery. However, he ultimately didn't follow through with his threat. A student named Adisorn, one of the citizens who helped capture the suspect, kicked the man when he tried to escape, causing him to fall unconscious.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Pairoj revealed that the bank manager skillfully avoided the suspect by quickly slipping out of her jacket and escaping. The suspect was subsequently beaten by bystanders and handed over to police, who will process the case further.
