Commerce Ministry Reports Foreign Investment Surges to 33.8 Billion Baht in January, Growing 46%

Poonphong Naiyanapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, reported that foreign investment in Thailand for January 2569 (2026) saw 113 businesses approved for investment under foreign business regulations. The investments were spread across 24 business license applications and 89 business certification requests, with a total investment of 33,779 million baht. This represents a 10% increase in the number of investors compared to January 2568 (2025), with investment value growing by 46% from 23,160 million baht. The top 5 investing countries were China (26 businesses, 5,390 million baht), Japan (25 businesses, 15,315 million baht), United States (16 businesses, 420 million baht), Singapore (12 businesses, 5,513 million baht), and Hong Kong (10 businesses, 587 million baht). Notably, the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) attracted 38 investors, accounting for 34% of foreign investments, with a total investment of 14,637 million baht.
