15-Year-Old Gold Thief Caught in Hatyai Mall Robbery, Arrested in Ubon Ratchathani
Police have apprehended a 15-year-old suspect who robbed a gold shop in a famous shopping mall in Hatyai, Songkhla. The lone perpetrator, wearing disguise and using a firearm, stole approximately 30 baht worth of gold necklaces on the evening of February 3rd. Police tracked the suspect through CCTV footage and evidence, discovering he had deposited the stolen gold with a friend before flying to Don Mueang Airport. On February 4th, high-ranking police officers led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pattanasak Bubpasawan coordinated to capture the suspect at Ubon Ratchathani bus station. When confronted, the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. Later that evening, he confessed and revealed the location of the hidden gold at a friend's house in Songkhla, where over 30 pieces of gold were recovered.
