Ministry of Agriculture Provides Fair Compensation for Farmers Impacted by State Development Projects

Thammanas is driving the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to resolve development project impacts, emphasizing fair treatment of farmers. The deputy prime minister chaired an online meeting of the subcommittee addressing impacts from state development projects and related land issues. The meeting reviewed progress from 7 working groups addressing problems in various areas, covering water sources, irrigation projects, and land issues related to the Agricultural Land Reform Office. The meeting focused on closely monitoring implementation to ensure assistance follows legal frameworks and matches each area's actual conditions. Progress was reported on compensation approaches for several projects, including the Thung Tub Nai water management project in Nakhon Si Thammarat, with considerations for land compensation, tree replacement, property damages, and lost agricultural opportunities. Similar reviews were conducted for water reservoir projects in Lampang, Nan, and Uttaradit provinces. Thammanas confirmed the ministry will proceed carefully to maximize budget benefits and truly address people's hardships.
