Driver and Shooter Arrested in Murder of Subdistrict Election Candidate Yong
The Crime Suppression Division has arrested two suspects involved in the murder of Yong, a local administrative organization candidate in Tha Chamwang, after successfully tracking down both the driver and shooter, who have fully confessed to the crime. On February 1st at 07:45 AM, Police Major General Natthasak Chaoyanasai, along with other senior police officers, led a special "Hanuman" operations team to control two suspects: Warrant Officer Witthawat, 41, the driver, and Thanpisit, 48, the gunman. They are accused of jointly murdering Payom Sangtong (aka "Kamnan Yom"), a 64-year-old candidate for Tha Chamwang Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Rattaphum District, Songkhla Province. The suspects were transported by police aircraft from Don Mueang Airport and will be handed over to Region 9 Police for legal proceedings. The arrest was the result of close collaboration between Region 9 Police and the Central Investigation Bureau, under the direction of Major General Natthasak Chaoyanasai. Witthawat was captured inside a shopping mall in Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province, while hiding in central Thailand. Thanpisit was arrested in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province. Both suspects have fully confessed and will be transferred to the investigating officers from Region 9 Police for further legal action.
