Captured: Drunk Man Arrested After 18-Year Manhunt for Violent Assault
The Crime Suppression Division arrested Winai, 51, on a long-standing arrest warrant for attempted murder. On January 2, 2551, the suspect was drinking with friends and became intoxicated. He attempted to invite another person to drink, who refused. Enraged, the suspect verbally attacked the person and then used a knife to slash the victim's head, causing serious injuries before fleeing.
Police from Bang Pakong investigated and obtained an arrest warrant from Chachoengsao Provincial Court. After 18 years of hiding, they tracked the suspect to a workers' camp near Bang Koko District in Bangkok and successfully apprehended him.
During questioning, the suspect acknowledged being the person on the warrant but denied the charges. He was handed over to Bang Pakong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
