Land Reform Office Demands Strict Nationwide Land Use Inspections
On February 20, 2026, the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO) sent urgent letters to provincial governors across the country, directing provincial ALRO offices to conduct strict land ownership checks. This follows reports of land being used for concerts and unauthorized construction in Saraburi province.
The office uncovered several significant land use violations, including:
1. In the border areas of Khon Kaen and Loei provinces, ALRO discovered agricultural land being used for concerts, resort construction, and opening construction material companies - a severe misuse of land.
2. In Saraburi province, a coordinated operation involving multiple government agencies investigated four key locations of illegal land use, including:
- A temple site with over 10 buildings constructed on 13 rai of land
- A village with land cleared and parceled for potential sale
- Religious sites with extensive land modification
ALRO has committed to taking decisive action, including potential rights revocation, legal prosecution, and land restoration for any confirmed violations.
